Egypt 2005
A fun time was had by the 14 divers and snorklers who headed out to Ocean Club this October. The flight to Sharm El-Sheikh went well with Astreus Airlines providing a suprising large amount of leg room, matching a sensible 25kg baggage allowance.
The diving was great, with visibility reaching over 20 metres; the sea was a balmy 27 degrees centigrade. We managed two or three dives a-day heading out on day boats from either Nama Bay (local & Ras Mohammed) or Shark Bay (Tiran).
We saw a mixture of reef sea life. Some of the more unusual finds being two turtles, a host of blue spotted rays, a crocodile fish (on the DunRaven) and a pair of seagrass ghost pipefish.
The hotel was a little out of town (next to the dive centre), but the facilities on-site meant that was not a problem. There were two pools, two bars and three choices for food. A shuttle ran into town every evening and the taxis were cheap if you missed them (£2).
Food, both down in Nama and in Old Sharm, was good and of course we made the obligatory trip to the bar on the top of Camel divers for a drink and "hubbly bubbly!"
